DHAMMADUTA BUDDHIST UNIVERSITY(BAGO)

The university was founded on 5 Jan 2015 by Sayadaw Ashin Pannyissara who was born on 23rd January 1964 at Nyaung Waing Ward of Thaton in Mon State, Myanmar. His parents are U Kyaw Hlaing and Daw Myint Kyi. He is the eldest of the five offspring. After answering the Matriculation Exam, he became a novice with the blessing of Venerable Bhaddanta Paññājota who was his Preceptor.He studied Buddhism at Dhammaduta Tawya in Belin Township of Mon State where he passed the Pahtamagyi level. Not only was he engaged in learning but also underwent the practice. For higher Buddhist Studies, he went to Mandalay and Sagaing. Later, he proceeded to Sri Lanka and India. He attained a B.A (1987) from Mandalay University. And, he was conferred Sāsanadhaja dhammācariya (1990), Sāsanajotipāla dhammācariya (1990) and Sāsanahitagaṇavācakadhammā cariya (2000). He also attained the M.A (1996) from Buddhist and Pali University, Colombo, Sri Lanka, and Ph.D. Degree (2006) from Kavikulaguru Kalidas Sanskrit University, Maharashtra State, India.
